No Wharf Contemplated The secretary to the Mount Mau uganui Progress League (Mr K Dyer) wrote asking how far the board had progressed with a proposal to erect a new cargo wharf at the Mount pointing out that the propo sal was one in which his organisation was greatly interested. It was reported that the secretary had replied pointing out that the board did not have the erection of a new wharf in mind. Danger of Fire Bombs In reply to a letter from the chairman of the board pointing out the great danger to the Dominion’s forestry reserves in the event of a fire bomb attack from enemy aircraft the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. p! Fraser) wrote expressing thanks for the communication and stating that the representations contained in the letter would receive full consideration. The letter to the Prime Minister indicated that the question was one which greatly concerned the hoard which was the owner of a large plantation on Matakana Island. The chairman said he had reason to think that the board’s representations would bear excellent fruit. The Sheep Traffic The secretary read a letter which he had forwarded to the Farmers' Auctioneering Company asking for its support in an effort to bring about an earlier start with the annual sheep traffic to enable a larger number to be transported by sea, and also assist in the elimination of much of the congestion which, occurred on the highways as a result of driving large mobs of sheep over them. The need for making an early .move in this direction was stressed by members. No Lights It was reported by the secretary that he had written to the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club pointing out that it had been reported that launches and yachts were using the harbour at night without lights, and asking it to take appropriate action to rectify the position. In reply to a question, the chairman said there had been no complaints recently.
Photographs of Members The desirability of obtaining a photographic record of members of the board for hanging in the board room was mentioned by the chairman and approved. A framed series of photographs of members serving on the board up till 1923 is at present hanging in the board room, and steps are now to be taken to bring the record up to date.
Proposed Rangiwaea Wharf A resume of the negotiations m connection with a request to erect a wharf at Rangiwaea for the use of the natives there, was given by the chairman who also submitted a sketch showing the nature of tn® proposed wharf. He pointed out, however, that the board could uo deal with the proposal until provision had been made for a reading reserve. The settlers, he stated, %er negotiating with the Native ban Board in this connection but so a nothing definite had been received-
