PARACHUTE TROOPS

WELL-GUARDED SECRET TRAINING IN ENGLAND FOR MONTHS ALL VOLUNTEERS London, Feb. 19 . One of the most closely guarded secrets of the war can now be disclosed since the landing of British parachute troops in southern Italy. Parachute troops have been in training in Britain for months past, in fact some of the training commenced last summer when a German invasion appeared imminent. An Agency correspondent reports how he visited a training ground and saw a twin engined 'plane come out of the morning mist and parachutists leave the 'plane. The men left by special release gear which is more rapid in action than pulling the rip cord. They were in special uniform and a smaller parachute followed them with equipment. All the men are volunteers and are specially trained in unarmed combat. They undergo a gruelling medical test and in the initial stages of their training platforms are used for the taking off.
