BOWLING TOURNAMENT AT TE PUKE
BAY OF PLENTY FULL KINK COMPETITIONS
The Bay of Plenty full-rink bowling tournament for the Francis Cup was held on the Te Puke Club’s greens on January 1,2, 3. and 4. Fourteen teams participated, representing the Tauranga, Opotiki, Taneatua, Rotorua, Tauranga South. Katikati and Te Puke Clubs. The weather conditions were ideal and the greens were in perfect order.. In the semi-final A. E. Spratt’s team (Te Puke) were defeated by Potter (Tauranga) on the 21st head, the score board reading 21—20. Potter’s team had no difficulty in defeating Simcock’s entry, the game finishing on the 19th head with the score at 24 —13.

In making the presentation to the winners, the President of the *Te Puke Club, Mr A. E. Spratt, congratulated Mr Potter and his team on the consistently good standard of bowls they had delivered during the tournament and said they fully deserved their win. The speaker also congratulated Mr Simcock’s team on reaching the finals. Mr Spratt also drew attention to the untiring efforts of Messrs W. O. Knight, H. N. Freeman and W. Langdon in making the tournament the undoubted success it was, and expressed his appreciation of their services. Details are: First Round Mirrielees, .S.
