Elizabeth Bergner Film Held Up
It's a whim of the whimsical Miss Elisabeth Bergner (and husband, Dr. Paul Czinner), that is keeping some 60,000 feet of'film in which £25,000 of British Government money has been invested, locked up in a vault in Liverpool, England. The 60,000 feet of celluloid is the footage of an uncompleted picture. Unless Miss Bergner returns to England and finishes the job the money is sunk. The lady is in Hollywood, in a very nice mansion in Westwood, at the moment, and looks likely to remain there. A long time ago now the Ministry of Information put up the money for a picture called "49th Parallel," the story on what would happen to Canada under attempted Nazi invasion. Miss Bergner and her husband secured exit visas to go to Canada to make all the exteriors. They made them. Eight members of the company that came from England with them returned home.
