• Huntly, Sept 14. As a result of Intervention by Mr C, L. Htinter, liaison officer of the Department of Labour, the* dispute at the MacDonald and Glen Afton collieries, involving nearly 400 men, has been settled', and work will be resumed on* Monday. This morning a special meeting of the members of the MacDonald and Glen Afton branches of the union was held at the Lyceum Theatre. There was an attendance of about 250 miners, who were addressed by Mr Hunter. The meeting lasted about two hours, and a decision was reached, practically unanimously, that all miners should resume work on Monday morning. A feature of the meeting was the good hearing which Mr Hunter received. A further decision was made, that matters in dispute should be referred, ss early as possible, to the national disputes’ committee.
