WORK MUST CONTINUE

‘‘The Government is taking a very serious view of these continued stoppages,” declared the Hon P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, commenting today on the , further trouble at the MacDonald mine, in the Waikato. “The importance of a coal supply must be apparent to everybody,” continued Mr Webb, “and no matter who is to blame, whether the management or the men, work must be continued. Disputes will be dealt with in keeping with the conditions of the agreement. “Mr C. L. Hunter (liaison officer to the Minister) has been sent to the Auckland district to convey the Government’s attitude both to the management and the men. He will specially emphasise the serious view which the Government is taking of this matter.”
