LYCEUM CLUB
SOCIAL AFTERNOON
NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED
On Monday a social afternoon was held in the Lyceum Club, the object being to welcome new members. The activities of the Club, have been somewhat curtailed during this winter owing to the Avar, and a number of the circles have had very few meetings. The Committee felt therefore that an afternoon would bring everyone together, and; give new members a chance to meet. 1 Mrs. J. G. Mann arranged a short programme to which Mrs. M. Munro and Miss Smith contributed songs, Mrs. J. Mackay and Mrs. Munro played a pianoforte duet, and Mrs. Mann herself entertained Avith a musical monologue. The Club’s President, Mrs. N. N. P. Green, made a short speech of Avelcome to new members, after which tea was served in the lounge, and then everyone tried an advertisement competition which Mrs. Allen Smith had arranged. Mrs. Robbie and Mrs. Mackay tied for the prize. A few of the guests then enjoyed a game of bridge, and others chatted until it was time for home. The Reception Room had been beautifully decorated by Mrs. Meikle with huge bowls of yellow flowers, and in the lounge where tea was served, and tables were gay Avith sprins: flowers. Following the success of the afternoon, the Committee plan to arrange others at suitable intervals.
