Vivi-anne Hulten Joins Ice Vanities of 1940
Vivi-anne Hulten, . 2 2-yegr-old Swedish skater who won. the championship of her homeland for 10 consecutive years, has joined a group of international champions who will make up the cast of the Ico Vanities of 19 40, now under production by Promoter Bill O’Brien, of New 1 York. Miss Hulten, who has performed “command’-’ appearances before every ruling house of Europe and has skated in many of the larger productions in England and the Continent, competed against Sonja Henie in two Olympic Games. Although outpointed in point totals, the Swedish star defeated 'the famed Norwegian in ' the free skating event both times. Became No. 1 Amateur When Sonja turned professional, Miss Hulten became the No. 1, ranking 'amateur skater of the world. For her skating partner Vivi-anne has selected Harrison' Thompson, a young Canadian skater who appeared in a pair number with her on English and European rinks. In addition to (the doubles number, Thompson will also work a singles exhibition. Unlike most of the star figure skaters, who first became proficient in the school figures before trying free skating,. Vivi-anne has carried figure skating to unknown heights. \ Drilled by Lucci The chorus of 24 young skating stars are being drilled by Gustav Lucci, who produces ice revues at Lake Placid and who drilled the Ice Follies chorus for several years. More than 50 skaters will make up the cast of the Ice Vanities. -
