OFFICERS ELECTED ENJOYABLE ING BESIDE A grand reunion of the Scots people of .Tauranga and district Avas held in the Rivoli Hall on Saturday evening. The main purpose Avas the re-kindling of interest in tlfe Scottish Society, which was achieved with a fair amount of enthusiasm. The Tauranga Highland Pip_e helped at the function and marched from First Avenue and Devonport Road to the hall.

The election of office bearers resulted as follows: Chief,.- Mr G. D. McLaren, Pitt Street; Chieftains, Messrs Anderson and A. S. McKinlay; Council Members, Messrs J. C. Aitken and J. Fraser; Hon. Secretary, Mr McKenzie; Hon. Auditor, Mr J. R, Chambers,

The appointment of three \ other councillors was left till a later date. An Ingleside followed the, election of office bearers, when a company of about eighty were entertained by some excellent singing and recitations, also exhibitions of Highland dancing.

The following programme was carried through: Exhibition Sean Triubhas, Miss K. Youngson; recitations, Miss Valma Barney (the Mount); song,* Mrs F. Auld; Irish Jig, Miss D. Guppy; Highland Fling, Miss Lorna Bellve. Encores were demanded from all the artists, and Mrfe Auld was much appreciated in her fine singing of the Scottish songs. Supper was under the management of Mrs Innes, ably supported by members of the Band. During the supper interval the Band rendered several selections, assisted by Drummer R. Steele, of the South Auckland Caledonian Pipe Band, Mrs J. Mackay kindly assisted at the piano for accompaniments. Scottish and old-time dancing was continued till midnight, and Mr R. ForshaAV, who played for the dancing, made a good, impression Avith members, Mr J. H. Davidson and Mr Jack Graham payed the bagpipe music for solo dances. Among the ladies present 'were; Mrs G. D. Mackay, Miss Mackay, Mrs Auld, Miss Carol Lloyd, Miss Kitty Youngson, Mrs K. Johnston, Miss Simmonds, Mrs McQuarry, Mrs. J. Carter, Mrs J. R. Lochhead, Miss E. Lochhead, Mrs G. Chapman, Miss G.
