TE PUKE NOTES
SATURDAY’S FOOTBALL, MATCHES (From Our Correspondent) There was no senior football here on Saturday owing to the senior A. and B. representatives being engaged at Rangitaiki. The final round of the junior competition was completed, At Jubilee Park, Papamoa played Rangiuru, and’ most Of the interest centred on this match. Recently .Papamoa have strengthened their team considerably, and a fortnight ago caused surprise by defeating Old Boys. In Saturday’s fixture they were expected to put up a very good showing, and they did, holding Rangiuru to a drawn game—3 ail. The result ruined Rangluru’s chances of an outright win in the championship, for with Old Boys gaining full points in their match against” Paengaroa, Rangiuru and Old Boys are now equal with 12 points each. A play-off will be necessary to determine which of these teams is the winner, and this match will probably take on Saturday. Other matches in which Te Puke pl'ayers will be taking part next Saturday will be Te Puke versus Waihi at Waihi, and a Maoris versus Pakeha fixture to be played at Maketu in aid of Centennial funds. The Maoris are also preparing a hangi and this is an added attraction.
