MATCH WITH WAIHI An inter-club match was played at Waihi on Thursday last, Tauranga winning by seven matches to three, two being all square. The following are the results: — Morning.—Mrs Hollis and Mrs Bell lost 2 and 1 to Mrs Maltby and Mrs Steedman; Mrs Clark and Mrs Whitehead lost 4 down to Miss Humphreys and, Mrs Page;. Mrs Hetherington and Mrs Paize all square with Mrs Mayfield and Miss Strange; Miss Goodridge and Mrs Wilson won 1 up from Miss Cook and Mrs Speed; Mrs Stanton and Mrs Cornthwaite lost 4 down to Mrs Strang and Mrs Ogle; Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Currie lost 1 down to Mrs Ronayne and Miss Jaegar.

TAURANGA CHAMPIONSHIPS COMPLETION OP FIRST ROUND The cold wet weather experienced during the week-end did not deter the golfers who completed the first round of the Championships. Most of the results were as expected, but some very close games showed that in. each grade the winner will be

hard to pick and will have to play sound golf throughout. The only unexpected result in tho senior event was the defeat of H. Bradniore by R. Hay, whilst in the junior event, the surprise was the win of Carew, who is steadily improving, over Anderson. In this event H. Butts surprised with an easy win over the youthful player, M. Bell. The following are the detailed results; Senior* Bateman beat Gilmore Rodgers 5 and 4; Hay beat Bradmoro, 2 and 1; Matheson beat Johnston, 3 and Boach beat Bryan, 1 up; Jordan beat Lusk at 19th; Verry beat Sisson, 3 and 2; Green beat Snodgi'ass, 1 up; Renshaw beat Morpeth, 4 and Intermediate Teasey beat Wallis, 2 up; Baron beat Green, by default; Baker beat vviiicocK, 2 up; Gammau beat Woods 6 and 5; Braamore beat Hart, 3 and 1, Dewe beat Duulbp, by default’ -tnupps beat Maylield, 2 and 1; Mollgaard beat Cooney, 2 up. Junior Butts beat M. The second round of the Championships is set down for September 3, but members are requested to endeavour to play their games as soon as possible. There is no competition next Saturday so these matches as well as the handicap match play games can be completed and brought up to date. During next week-end the Waihi Club will visit Tauranga, and the following have been selected to play for the local Cub. MixedL Foursomes The “Get Together” foursomes proved very popular over the weekend and although the weather was not all that could be expected, thirty pairs took part. The winners proved to be Mrs Page and J. Bateman who returned the excellent score of 74 net. The outward journey on this card was 3 5 or one oyer the par figures which is good golf under the conditions. As this event proved so popular it is hoped to hold a mixed foursome bogey handicap under' the same conditions later in the season. 1 Open Day Members are again reminded that the entries for the open day on August 27 close on August 23. Entries should be made at an early date.
