Te Puke Horse’s Victory. Mr N. Grafas’s horse King Rey won the Sydenham Hurdles of £ 600 on Saturday at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand National Meeting, defeating the favourite Aussie Ra by five lengths. Konakis on Roads. Reference was made *at Friday’s meeting of the Tauranga County Council to damage to various roads by the use of konakis, and it was decided to take steps to prevent their continued use. Wet Weekend. The rainfall, as recorded by the Camp gauge during the past two days was 8 4 points. The registration at 9 a.m. yesterday was 24 points and at the same hour to-day 60 points. , Budget Debate. Mr F. W. Doidge, Member for Tauranga, spoke on the Budget Amendment in the House of Representatives on Friday. The text of this speech will appear in the Bay of Plenty Times * to-morrow. Mr Doidge expects to deliver his speech on the Budget early this week, possibly to-morrow. Footballers Injured. Several footballers were injured during the progress of the football matches on Saturday, but. /only two players, L. Ashdown (Opotiki) and E. Kennedy (Cadets juniors), had to retire. Prompt attention was' given in all cases by members of the St. John Ambulance Association, under Mr M. Phillip. . ,
