DUTCH FOR SYDNEY
TO -GROW VEGETABLES
A number of Dutch migrants will •come to Australia and become market gardeners near Sydney, the N.S.W. of Marketing '(Mr A. A. Watson), told the Agricultural Bureau Conference delegates at Hawkesbury College. Tiie Dutchmen. Mr Watson said, would avoid any semblance of .racial grouping, such as had happened in the past. In recent years a large number, of Italian, Maltese and other European migrants had established themselves as market gardeners hear Sydney,'and few, if any, had joined any growers’ organisations, except which existed among themselves. “It is most desirable that primary producers should not be sectionalised on a racial basis,” he continued. “Our primary industries are geographically and inescapably Australian, and those engaged in them who are not of our race should have all encouragement and be expected to become* nationally and industrially
Australian. Immigrant growers should not stand aside from—or, worse still, development of an organisation that will benefit them eventually, with' :their Australian confreres:” ■
