SLIMMING DIET
FOR LONDON POLICEMEN
London policemen are taking a special diet to get slim. One of them, Warrant Officer Cuthbert Quantrell of Marylebone Police Court, has cun odtwnihs Police Court, has cut down his weight from nineteen and a half stone to thirteen and a half stone in four months. He did it by following a diet recommended for policemen by experts of St. Thomas’s Hospital. Here are a specimen day’s meals; Breakfast. —Two slices of buttered brown bread or four biscuits; tea with milk, no sugar; one egg, fruit.
Lunch. —Lean meat; green vegetables. No potatoes; fresh fruit; one slice of brown bread or tyro biscuits.
T ea- —Tea with milk, no sugar; two slices of buttered brown bread, one egg or one ounce of cheese; salad or fruit.
Supper. One egg or one ounce of cheese; lean meat or steamed fish; green vegetables or salad; one slice of buttered brown bread; fruit. Among the forbidden foods aie starchy substances, dried fruits, loot vegetables, and anything fried. These are recommended in moderation: —
Milk and butter. Eggs on lean ham. Lean meat, fish, liver, brains and sweetbreads.
Wholemeal bread. Green vegetables, preferably raw in salads.
