ADVERTISING HOARDING

Sir, —I was positively astounded last Saturday to see the new hoarding being erected on the waterfront! I cannot believe that Councillors gave permission for such a blunder to be perpetrated. If they did they must have been more than nodding, otherwise they would have surely viewed the matter from the “precedent” angle, apart altogether from that of disposing of the citizens’ birthright —the more heinous error. I should imagine, that hundreds of our townspeople will be gravely offended if this faux pas is allowed to remain. Town Planning, forsooth! P. W. MEIKLE.
