LOCAL ELECTIONS

MU ILES’ FINAL ADDRESS TO-NIGHT Mr A. N. lies, who is a candidate | for the Mayoralty, will give his final \ address of the campaign in the | Town Hall this evening. Candidates | for the Council are invited to be present and to speak. The meeting commences at eight o’clock. i 1 To the Citizens of Tauranga.— t I have stated at public meet- j ings during this campaign that the i main fight in this election is the ; Mayoralty. Both candidates have |i submitted from the public platform • a policy which each claims to be for 3 the betterment of Tauranga. Now « it is for the people of Tauranga to j decide which policy they want. In 5 choosing that policy I would ask the !| people of Tauranga to put aside all j personal likes and dislikes, and vote ,i in the interests and welfare of the f town. In all elections no personal j interest whatever should be consid- 1 ered. It is, in the interests of your ; town that you cast your votes, and j the town should come first.

I have been asked what my policy is. My reply to that is, the interests of the town. You are asked to elect a Mayor who will be the leader of the Council, and in choosing that leader you will no doubt be guided by the policy that appeals to you most. It will be my duty, if elected, to support whoever is elected, provided always that his policy is in the interests of the citizens and welfare of Tauranga. I would again remind the electors to vote for the town’s progress and not from personal feelings. A. BLACKBURN. MOUNT 3IAUNGANUI TOWN BOARD Mr J. Thomson announces that he is in no way connected with any ticket for the Mount Maunganui Town Board election, and the insertion of his name in any ticket is without his sanction.
