The question of naming the area of land purchased some time ago by the Borough Council from Mr Alex Dickie was mentioned again at last night’s meeting of the Council, by Cr Every, and it was agreed that the matter be considered at the next meeting of the Council. Putting Back (he Clocks. Summer lime will end to-morrow when the hands of the clocks will be put back half-an-hour. Municipal .Hand. At the Borough Council meeting last night, complimentary references were made by various speakers to the splendid performance of the Tauranga Municipal Band at the Thames Band Contest at Easter. It was unanimously agreed to tender the Band a reception in The Civic Theatre on Tuesday next. Town Clerk’s Report. At the meeting of the Borough Council on the 12th inst. a comprehensive report dealing with the finances for the year ended March 31, 103 8, was presented by the Town Clerk, Mr R. B. Shearman. The full text of the report was published on Tuesday last and it was submitted again to a special meeting of the Council last night. Cr McFarlane moved: That the Town Clerk’s report ho received and referred to the incoming Council. Cr McKinnon seconded and paid a tribute to the Town Clerk in presenting such a comprehensive report,—The motion was carried unanimously. Golf Competitions. The first competition of the season, a ladies’ Canadian foursome, will ho played at Gate Pa on Wednesday next, the 27th inst and on Saturday the 30th. Players are asked to choose their own partners, a Senior player with a Junior. Sale of Welcome Bay Run Messrs McLeod and Budd report the sale of the Welcome Bay run of 1760 acres on behalf of the Bank of Xew South Wales to a Taranaki buyer, who has taken possession, and has already stocked the country with bullocks and sheep.
