PROGRESS LEAGUE

WOMKX’S BRANCH There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the IVomen s Branch of the Tauranga Progress League, held on Friday last, in the Baptist Hall, with Mrs Hardwick in the chair. The meeting opened with the New Zealand National Anthem. The Christmas Party, which will be held at “Hillsdene,” was fully discussed, and final arrangements made. The President said that the executive had made arrangements for the purchase of toys, sweets, etc., and suggested that the matter be left to them to finalise. This was agreed to. It was decided to have games, etc., in the afternoon, followed by an early tea. after which a short concert programme would be rendered by the children. Santa Claus will be in attendance at the Christmas Tree. Donations of cake will be gratefully received. Mr dull entertained the meeting with an exhibition of water colours, chiefly landscapes. Each picture was accompanied by a description of its location, and often enlivened by little anecdotes and reminiscences of unusual occurrences. Holidays spent in Australia's National Park, in our own land, especially in the .Far North and trips in the vicinity of Tauranga, had all been recorded in colour. The President extended the thanks of tlie meeting to Mr dull, who was heartily applauded.

Afternoon tea was then served, after which Mr dull left, expressing appreciation of the ladies’ interest and hospitality, which he had enjoyed. The report of lire Women’s Representative Committee, was taken, and it was decided to protest against the action of the Borough Council, in including the cleaning of the municipal offices, and public conveniences, in the duties of the rest room attendant. The President reminded members of the debate, which is being arranged by the Progress League. Two new members were welcomed, and enrolled. Mrs Hardwick extended the season’s greetings to all members.
