PLYING BOAT CRASH

Athens, Oct. 1. Imperial Airways’ flying boat Gourtier, eu route from England to Alexandria, made a faulty landing in fo S on the Phaleron Harbour, and is »ow awash iu shallow water. Three Passengers were drowned.
The victims were Wing-Command-Pf I>. Aclaud, an Englishman; Roy Henderson, an American; and Alexander Eleftarakis, a Greek. Four of the remaining six passengers were sent to hospital. The rrew of five escaped unhurt. The bourtier had no mails aboard. Captain F. S. Wilkins, of the accidents branch of the Air Ministry, ls paving immediately for Athens to asstst the Greek Government in any ln <iuiry it may hold. A statement by Imperial Airways s nys the exact cause of the accident occurred at the marine air station at Phaleron is not yet known. One of the two uninjured passengl rs vas the Rev. Richard Rees. Mr tees said the boat struck the water in bad visibility while aliglit- .,£• The cabin was immediately swamped.
He escaped through a hole in the »ottom. The bodies of Wing-Com-mander Acland and Mr Henderson ere later recovered from tne sea.
