FIGURES OF ROMANCE
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, whose deeds of valor have been widely exploited, number more than 2700 men, including those in the marine service. The force is distributed among 14 divisions, located strategically over the Dorain-
Mainly their duties are to maintain law and order in the Yukon, the arctic regions and in the unorganized North-west Territories. However,- they perform many other services for the Dominion Government, including suppression of the drug traffic and smuggling, and also
enforcement of the criminal codes in six of the provinces, by special arrangements. Recruits for the mounted police force are put through a six-month period of. training at Regina, Sasic. The enlistment is for five years of service.
