NEWS IN TOWN

Collision at Intersection. A collision between two cars occiured on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Spring and Durham Streets. One of the cars crashed into a picket fence on fhe “Sunnyside” property and levelled it. The two cars were damaged, but the drivers, Mr Harold Carter and Mrs Lockyer, escaped injury. Car on Eire. A motor car, owned by Mr Alt' Stewart, took lire in Wharf Street on Saturday evening at G. 50. The brigade was called' out, but when it reached the scene the fire had been put out by a hand extinguisher brought from a near-by shop. The car was damaged but not seriously. Bicycle Lamp. The police are seeking the owner of a bicycle lamp, which was recovered by them on Saturday night. A Long Line. An unusual sight on the harbour last night was Mr P. F. Carter’s Helen C. towing eight boats home from the Mount. In two martial lines I, Z, S and V Classes were represented, the crews leisurely steering their way to gramophone music. The Helen C. made the run up in an hour, and the skipper was cheered by the crews on arriving -home. The wind dropped about 5 o’clock and but for Mr Carter’s help the boats would have had a hard run home against the tide.
