A PAGE FROM THE PAST Tauranga 50 Years Ago We take the following paragraphs from the Bay of Plenty Times of April 17. 1S S 7: — ‘.‘The annual general meeting of the Tauranga Regatta Club was held last evening at the Masonic Hotel, Mr W. M. Commons, in the chair. The minutes of last meeting on January 7 were read and confirmed. The treasurer, Mr .1. Snodgrass, then read the balance sheet, which showed a credit balance of £ 21 10s Gd. This was adopted. The secretary was instructed to forward the sum of 10s 6d to Mr Peterson in recognition of his services on Regatta day. A vote of thanks to the Directors of the Northern Steamship Company was passed for their kindness in placing the flagship at the disposal of the committee, and for other assistance towards the success of the Regatta. It was resolved that the date for holding the annual regatta he changed to St. Andrew's day. November 30. It was decided that a prize of not loss than £ 5 be offered tor a race between open sailing centrehoard boats of 10 feet and under and that a bonus of. £lO additional be given to the winning boat it built locally.’’ . t ‘‘We are glad to bear that Mr 1.
