Independent Order of Oddfellows. At a meeting of members of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, N./., it was decided to open a branch lodge at Te Puke of Lodge Taneatua. The official opening was fixed for April 23, when the officers will be installed.

Death of Maoris. The death occurred at the Wairoa Pa on Tuesday of Mr Peter Wood at the early age of 2 6 years. Mr Wood leaves a widow. The previous day at the Pa the little seven-months-old granddaughter of Mr and Mrs D. Ngawharau also passed away. The customary tangi was held, many natives attending from Tauranga and Matamata, and both were buried in the Wairoa Cemetery.
