JAPANESE APPLES ON SALE IN LONDON London, Feb. 10. Under the heading “Japples,” the “Evening News” announces the arrival at Covent Garden of the first consignment of Japanese apples ever sent to Britain. It consists of 150 cases of “sweet red,” resembling English Jonathans. It came from Yokohama by way of Vancouver and Halifax. The apples are beautifully packed, importers declaring that “in that respect they have easily outdone the Americans.” They were not bruised, despite the long journey, and are selling in the shdps at Gd a lb.
