Mr C. H. Burnett, M.P.. returned from Edgecumbe this morning by the express. Mr Burnett attended the Awakeri Sports yesterday of which Club be is Patron, and also attended the social and dance in the evening at the Awakeri Hall.

Mrs C. E. Macmillan has left on a visit to Cambridge.

Commander and Mrs Good are spending a few (fays at Hotel St. Anne’s.

Miss McCoy, librarian, left for Rotorua yesterday on annual holiday. During her absence Miss Comber will relieve.

Mr \V. Thomas, who has been on the staff of the Post and Telegraph Department at Tauranga for the past eleven years, has received notice of his transfer to the Hamilton office.

Mrs Johanson and Miss Johanson, who have been spending a holiday with Mrs Johanson’s parents, Mr and Mrs Ellery, at Gate Pa, leave to-mor-row on their return to Palmerston North.

The appointment of the Rev. George Vincent Gerard, M.C., M.A., at present vicar of St. Augustin’s parish, Petone, to the charge of St. Matthew’s Church, Auckland, has been announced by Archbishop Averill.

Mr and Mrs Porter, of Suva, are on a visit to Tauranga and are staying at the Star Hotel.

Mr and Mrs S. Audley, Mr G. Purser and Mr W. B. Purser returned last night in the launch Oceanic from an enjoyable visit to Mayor Island.

Mrs Burt, of Christchurch, is spending a holiday here of six weeks and is a guest at the Star Hotel.

Mr E. A. Meredith, Government Valuer, is paying an official visit to Tauranga and is at the Star Hotel.
