Cricket Match. A cricket match will be played here to-morrow, the Cambridge XI playing the Taurauga Association’s team.
Sports at Welcome RayThe principal outdoor gatheiing in this district to-morrow will be the Welcome Bay-Ohauiti sports meeting to be held on Mr F. W. Ream's farm. A good programme has been arranged and given fine weather the sports should provide an excellent day’s enjoyment.
Good Fishing. Fishing from the launch Omokoroa yesterday off Karewha Island, a large party secured a splendid catch of 350 fish, comprising terakihi, schnapper, kahawai and crayfish.
Women’s Division Picnic. Mrs S. E. White, Hon. Sec. invites all members, farmer's members and their families to the annual picnic of the W.D.F.U. to he held on Friday next at Hairini. Given fine weather the outing should be enjoyable and it is hoped that all members will attend.
Chamber of Commerce.. The adjourned meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday at S p.m. in the Borough Council Chambers. Important matters regarding railway and postal, referred to the Executive, will be reported upon. The weekly half holiday, will be under consideration. There should be a large attendance. Tanranga Agricultural Show. The Sands Gold Cup, presented by Mrs Sands, of Rotorua, for competition in the fruit section of the Tauranga A. and P. Show, has been received by the Secretary, Mr A. S. Voss. During the early part of the year a strong sub-committee was appointed to re-cast the fruit section. There are several new classes in.this section of the show schedule as a result of the sub-committee’s recommendation, and this should bring the much deserved result of keener interest in this important industry. Swimming Carnival. The Tanranga Swimming and LifeSaving Club’s carnival, which was to have been held at the Municipal Baths last night, had to be postponed for a fortnight, as the necessary flood-lights were not available. The club is now holding the “Learn to Swim” week, which commenced yesterday'. Miss R. Patterson is attending at the baths between 1 and 2 p.m. daily for the purpose of giving instruction to those interested in learning to swim.
Anniversary Day. To-morrow, the anniversary of the foundation of the Auckland Province will be generally observed as a holiday. All-day bowling tournaments will be held on both the local greens. There will be no issue of the Bay of Plenty Times. Hamilton Regatta. Several of the Taurauga Rowing Club's crews will leave for Hamilton to-night and the remainder to-mor-row, for the purpose of competing at the Hamilton Regatta. Matamata Races. A special railway timetable has been arranged for the Matamata races which are being held on Saturday next. The acceptances are a record.
