SNIFF SNUFF
SNEEZE WAY OUT OF COLDS. Sydney, Jan. 14. While scientists are experimenting with guinea pigs, attempting to solve the origin of colds, the old snuff box has been hailed as a preventive of colds in the head. Even if it does represent an enforced sneeze, the snuffing of the powder is said to clear the head and remove lurking germs which might be manufacturing a cold. Undoubtedly there are simpler ways of attempting to ward off ' a cold, but some London women have seized on the snuffbox idea.
“So cute, m’dear. And the smartest little snuffboxes, all chromiumplated, that you can Imagine. And a good sniff is so refreshing.’’ It is unlikely that Sydney will follow the practice. It might be all right in romantic fiction, as an accompaniment to Sir Nigel Despard, the Beau Brummel of Berkeley Square, and his lady—hut not for Sydney typists. However, if you wish to be different and desire to avoid a cold, try a little snuff. The only harm will come from your immediate neighbours.
