FARMERS’ UNION CONFERENCE AGENDA PAPER “That steps be taken to have the agenda paper for combined conference confined to remits .covering Questions of policy of major importance only, as many of the minor remits could be dealt with by provincial executives alone, thus conserving the time of conference for fuller discussion of the major issues, and that executives of provinces represented at combined conference be asked to co-operate with this executive to draw up a definite plan for bringing this about,” was the text of a motion moved by Mr J. H. Bremner’at this week’s meeting of the Wairarapa provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union at Masterton. Mr Bremner said that reorganisation was in the air and there was no part of the, union’s activities where it was so urgently needed as the provincial conference. Therefore this motion should be gone ahead with. “The whole trouble is,” he continued, “that the order paper is overloaded, many, of the remits being unnecessary- A committee set up by the provincial executives should go through the remits and decide which are of major and minor Importance.” Mr Bremner suggested that they approach the other provinces in conference and ask for an agreement to keep the o”?*or paper down. This thing was besoming to unwieldy. The motion ,was carried unanimously.
