WEDDING. VERCOE—COOKE.' In magnolia satin and lace, Hilda, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs Cooke, was married to Jack Vercoe, third son of Mrs and the late Mr J. Vercoe, Te* Mata! Road, Te Puke. A halo of pearls and orange-blossoms, a tulle Tell with a pleated flounce and a sheaf of lilies gave the bride’s gown a charming touch. Mr Cooke gave his daughter away. Miss Mollle Pilcher,' wearing a frock of peach satin with velvet sash and little flowered cap to match, attended as bridesmaid, her bouquet being of peach, tinted flowers and asparagus fern. The reception was held in Denman’s Tea Rooms, after which Mr and Mrs Vercoe left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a brown costume, with hat and accessories to match. MEETING OP W.E.A. A meeting of the W.E.A. was held at Miss Bush’s Tea Rooms on Tuesday evening last. The members read the first half of “John Bull’s Other Island’’ by G. B, Shaw, and intend to finish the play next week. There was a good attendance of members and many interesting discussions took place. FOOTBALL MEETING. The Te Puke Rugby Union held its fortnightly meeting in the Security Buildings on Tuesday evening last. Mr E. Morton took Mr C. Montgomery’s position on the Union, owing to the latter resigning. The secretary, Mr C. Walker, stated that he had received the money from the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union for the purchase of footballs for the Te Puke District High School and also the country schools. The Te Puke Maori team has decided to send in a challenge to the Opotiki Maori team for the Ratana Cup.
