Mr A. F. Tunks notifies that he will deliver His final address of the Mayoral campaign in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening next at eight o’clock. Candidates for local bodies are Invited to speak.

Bandsmen are requested to meet at the Town Wharf at 6.45 p.m; on Monday next, when a programme will be rendered in connection with the Jubilee celebrations.

Mr B. C. Robbins will address a public meeting on the Strand on Monday evening after the fireworks display. He will take the opportunity of replying to various statements that have been made from the public platforpi.

Several well-known ratepayers in the Katikati district solicit the support of county ratepayers for Mr A. W, T. Hyde, who is seeking election to the Hospital Board.

An attractive display of fireworks from The Strand harbour front will be made next Monday evening, commencing at seven o’clock. The Municipal Band will render a programme, and a demonstration will be given by the Fire Brigade.

The time-table of the TaurangaTaneatua railway service on Monday next is advertised to-day.

Tenders are invited by the Tauranga County Council for the construction of the Atuaroa and Twin Bridges.

About thirty-five ratepayers at■tended'at the Oropl Hall on Wednesday evening, when Mr C. S.“Moffatt delivered an address on county matters. The candidates said the farmers under the present system could not saddle themselves with more rates and any work to be done would have to be paid- for out of present revenue. A vote of thanks was accorded the speaker. .

The Northern Steamship Company’s Auckland-Tauranga time-table for next week is advertised to-day. A light frost last nigfit Was a sign that winter is at hand.

The South Auckland Band Contest at Te Aroha makes a very attractive page, with the various bands In competition. The International rowing gala at Dunedin will be of particular interest to many. Stage and cinema photographs occupy a prominent position, and an Auckland naval wedding will attract special feminine interest. The miscellaneous pictures include sporting personalities. A smile was raised at this week’s meeting of the Auckland Education Board when a letter .was received from the committee of a country school in the Te Puke district asking for permission to postpone,, the May term holidays by three weeks or a month in order to allow the teacher in charge <sl the school to take part in the All Black Rugby trial matches: "I understand that the teacher is a, prospective New. Zealand full-back,” , commented the chairman, Mr T. U. Wells. “It does not mean any loss of school time, and personally I would not like to spoil the- teacher’s chance of a possible trip to England,” he added. Another member commented facetiously that Rugby in/the Dominion was a form of national industry. It was decided to approve the committee’s request.

Mr P. ‘McKenna notifies that he is a candidate at the forthcoming County election for Te Puke Riding. Mr McKenna has had a very useful experience in local body work, having served as a member of the Whangarei County the Parewera Road .Board. He is succcessfully farming IOOO' acres at Ohauiti.

At the last meeting of the Management Committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union the Chairman (Mr F. Loekyer )\ submitted an insuraac'e scheme—-which was approved—providing that those senior players who contribute Is a match become entitled .to £1 a week for up :to six weeks and junior and third grade players who v contribute sixpence a week become entitled to 10s a week np to six weeks in the event of them being injured. -
