The value of the Railway Department’s co-operation In the marketing of the orange crop'is shown by the sales at railway stations for the last five years (says the Sydney Sun). Starting in 1928 with the sale’ of 16,310 cases of oranges the department sold" 36,185 in 1929 i 43’, 006 11*1930; 84,290 in. 1931, and 47;300 last year. Last year’s sales Would have been greater but additional supplies were not available. . On the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area particularly it is now recognised that the railway sales were the main factor in stablising prices. ; The department’s latest move is to sell the surplus mandarin crop from the. Dural area.: Mandarins Will' be on sale at main railway stations at threepence a dozen.
