BIBLE CLASS UNION
BAY OF PLENTY COMMITTEE. ’The Bay of Plenty District Committee of the New Zealand Presbyterian Bible Class Union held its first meeting of the year in St. Andrew’s Church, Taneatua, last week. Rev. D. N. MacDlarmid M.8.E., 8.A., presided over a large attendance of delegates representing the Opotiki, Taneatua, Whakatane, Awakeri, Rangitaiki, Matata and Manawahe classes. , ■* ‘ ■!.
' Interesting reports on various phases of the New Plymouth summer conference and the young women’s and-young men’s annual business meetings were rendered as follows<: —-
General; Rev. H. J. Lilburn(Whakatane); Study circles, Mrs W. J. Murray (Otaktri); Mass meetings, Mr W. J. Murray (Otakiri); Intercessions, Miss N. Ker (Edgecumhe): Local arrangements and personalities, Mr T. I. Steele (Opotiki). Mr Steele also reported on the young men’s annual business meeting held in Wellington while Miss Ker reported on that of the young women.
Arrangements for the holding of the Easter Camp at Ohope Beach were also discussed, and committees were appointed to manage the various departments. The chairman of the Ohope camp site committee, Mr G. B. Murray, intimated that' his committee expected to have buildings erected on the site recently purchased in time for camp.
Since the institution of Bible class camps at. Ohope Beach, they have proved exceedingly popular, and a record attendance of campers is anticipated this year. Mr Mac Diarmid, ’of St. John’s Church, Opotiki, will occupy the dual position of district president and camp father. Rev. Thompson of St. Luke’s Church, Remuera, Auckland, will be chief speaker, and Miss Sutherland, of Whakatane, register and organist.
