LOCAL BODIES’ AIMS. • AVhile there is so much talk at , the present time of the necessity of reducing the rate of interest on loan money it is significant that in''last Thursday’s issue of the (weekly) New Zealand Gazette nine local bodies are given authority to raise loans totalling over three-quai'ters of a million pounds (£793,'650), and with the exception of a mere £13,750, the rate of interest is 5J per cent. The two loans totalling ££13,750 are at live per centum. .
. Thg periods of the loans range from four to 24 yearn and the -'annual rates per centum of payments into sinking funds range from 22s to 10.
