UNREST IN RUMANIA

Country Seething With Discontent ICING ADVISED TO ABDICATE. London, Feb. IS The Vienna correspondent of the Daily Mail reports that soldiers, in groups of five, at intervals of 100 yards, are patrolling the main streets in Bucharest, capital of Rumania. The whole country, he says, is seething with discontent. The death-roll in the railway workshops fight now totals 30. The workshops are garrisoned with troops.

King Carol’s mother Queen Marie, is reported to have advised him to abdicate in favour of his son, Prince Michael. The King has refused to do so, however. He declares that he has complete faith in the army. Despatches from Bucharest state that many workers’ homes were searched and several arrests made.

The Government is preparing a bill to provide for the militarisation of the entire railway system.
