TERRITORIAL ASSOC.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the TerritoriarAssociation was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday evening last. There were present Messrs L. R. Wilkinson (in the chair). Watt, Parlane, Scantlebury, Robbins, and Fraser Baddeley, Secretary, apologies being ■ received from Messrs Sanders and Carswell. The minutes of the pi’evious meeting were read and confirmed.
Correspondence
The Secretary then read the following letter which had been received from Mr F. W. MacDonald, Honrary General Secretary of the New Zealand Territorial Association:— “Deep appreciation of the magnificent work carried by your Branch during the past year was expressed by members present at the Annual General meeting held, on 31st October last. At this meeting a copy of your annual report and. balance sheet was read, and. a motion passed instructing me to write and congratulate you on the results obtained, and to express our admiration of the manner in which the affairs of the Territorial Association have been carried out in Tauranga." The action of the Secretary In forwarding letters'of thanks to those who have assisted the Club was approved. Financial. The Secretary reported that 105 members had paid their annual subscriptions leaving 18 still outstanding.
The financial position of the Club was very satisfactory there being a credit balance of £32. It was decided to vote £lO towards the social benefit of members of the Ist Battalion, Hauraki Regiment, while In camp at Rotorua. This sum plus £5 due Association Headquarters is to be dealt, with by Lieutenants Wilkinson and Browning, to the advantage of the troops in camp. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Waihi and Paeroa Branches of the Association inviting them to contribute to this fund. Drill Hall. Messrs Watt, Scantlebury and Baddeley were appointed a sub-commit-tee to attend meeting to go into the question of co-operating with the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides and Borough Council, with the object of providing a Hall suitable to the various needs of Scouts, Guides and Territorials.
Picture Benefit. An offer was received from the Management of the Regent Theatre to hold a benefit night in aid of the funds of the Association, and Messrs Wilkinson and Baddeley were appointed a sub-committee to make any arrangements. Concession. The Secretary reported that he had received a telegram from the Hon. C. B. Macmillan announcing that at the request of the Association he had arranged for a concession of half price entry to the Baths for .troops of this Battalion while in camp at Rotorua. Vote of Condolence. A vote condolence with the relatives of the late Mr R. H. Cazalet, formerly a member of the Association was passed. This concluded the business.
