ROWING.
MEETING AT TAURAXGA, A meeting was held in the Forest ' er's Hall during the week-end, w w representatives from Auckland, ranga, Whakatane and HainUtoa rowing clubs attended to discuss general points in connection with the gatta. Mr A. C. Norden, Chairman o$ the Auckland Rowing Association, w aa . voted to the chair. He congratulated 1 the Tauranga Regatta Committee on keeping the regatta going in spite ot the times. Mr Norden also welcomed the Whakatane Club, which had again affiliated with the Auckland Rowing Association. It was decided that the prizes tor the Sommerville Memorial Race for eights, for which only Hamilton and Tauranga entered, would be £l2 an( j £3. ■■■ v--' Mr H. E. Olding. President of the Regatta Club, welcomed the rowing men on behalf of the Club and thanked Mr Norden for his appreciation’ of their efforts to keep the flag fly, mg. They had a little difficulty, he said, in getting rowing events placed' on the programme, but since they had been added they never looked back and now the rowing events were most popular. Mr F. C. Warner thanked the rowing men for their continued support- 1 and wished them a successful day. Mr J. St. Clair, representing Hamilton, and Mr Norman, Captain of the Whakatane Club, thanked the Tauranga Club for their welcome and assure dthem of continued support.
