OBITUARY
.MRS Ai E. HAMMOND. It is 'with deep regret that we record the death of Mrs Georgie .Hammond, wife of Mr Albert B. Hammond, which occurred at her -residence, Second Avenue, at an early hour this morning, after a long,illness, which was borne with great fortitude. The late Mrs Hammond was born in Queensland, and was the second daughter of Mr and-Mrs Samuel Burgess. When a*. girl, she accompanied her parents to Tauranga, where they lived for a few years and then moved to 'Attckland. Mrs Hammond was married thirty-eight years ago and had since resided in Tauranga. She was a prominent worker on behalf of the Church of England for many years and later for the Methodist Church. Mrs Hammond was also keenly interested in croquet,..and was one of the founders of the local club. Her only son, Edgar, died eight years ago. The sympathy of numerous friends will be extended to Mr Hammond and other relatives in their great loss. The funeral will leave the residence on Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, and will be preceded by a short service at the house.
