READING AT 108

WOMAN WHO HAS LIVED IN FIVE REIGNS. Believed to be the oldest woman in Great Britain, Mrs Eliza Roff, of Crescent-avenue, Plymouth, has just celebrated her 108th birthday. Wonderfully well for her great age, Mrs Rolf devotes a considerable time each day to reading newspapers, and takes an intelligent interest in world affairs. Born in 1824, she has lived in five reigns. Between 50 and GO years ago she resided in London, where her husband was a wharf owner.

On the death of her husband she went to live in Plymouth, where she has many family associations. Her daughter married there, and a grand-son,Lieut-Col. Frank Phillips, is

member of a well-known firm of Plymouth shipping agents.
