FIREMEN HURT.

SPEEDING ENGINE CAPSIZED. Sydney, Aug. 5. Pitched from a fire-engine, which overturned at Drummoyne early this morning, two firemen were injured. One of them missed death by inches when the huge motor almost crashed upon him. The engine was travelling rapidly along Lyons-roa.d, near Gear’s avenue, on a test, when a car crossed directly in its path. Only the decisive action of the fireman saved a crash, but the sudden swerve caused the engine to capsize. Those injured were: Fireman McDermott, 25, of Drummoyne Station; concussion, abrasions and severe shock (admitted to Balmain Hospital). Fireman-Driver Burgess, about 30, lacerated forehead, abrasions to the hands and shock. When the engine was righted it was found that it had not suffered serious damage.
