FOOTBALL CRITICISM.
(To the Editor.)
Sir. —Will you allow me, through the columns of your paper, to bring the following matter to the notice of Rugby followers of this district; Practically ever sluce football has started this season we have had notes in your paper criticising players, both in the senior teams by “Old Boy” and in the junior’ teams by “Rover.” We do not know whether ,“01d Boy” or "Rover” really know anything about football, as nobody seems to know who s they are, although we have ideas and have heard that they are members of the Taurauga Rugby Union Management Committee. I have come to the conclusion that their criticism is all bunkum. We have not heard for a long time from “Rover," especially now that the junior rep. team is chosen. Is he dead? In last night’s paper, “Old Boy," mentioned that the Tauranga Rugby followers do not give the game the support they should by turning up to matches, where a charge is made, under the jurisdiction of the Tauranga Rugby Union. Perhaps if they charged Is for adults and Gd for children, the public would roll along. . In conclusion, I think “Old Boy” must, be mistaken in my age. In last night’s issue of the Times he states that Duncan and Packman demonstrated that old age does not prevent a man. from helping his old Club over the stiles. Perhaps he thinks as I have taken on the whistle this year that I am old, but he is wrong. I would be playing the good old game this season if it were not for a knee injury I received last season. Thanking your for space.—l am, etc., R. ROY PACKMAN, Tauranga, Aug. 11, 1932.
