GORED BY BULL.

MAX’S NARROW ESCAPE. A remarkable escape from death, through being gored by a bull, was the experience of Mr Alan Fisher, aged 21, on the farm of his father, Mr J. A. Fisher, near Temuka a few days ago. Mr Fisher was seriously injured, and it required the efforts of Drs F. A. Scannell and A. S. Mclnnes, for over four hours to place the unfortunate man out of immediate danger. Mr Fisher had just finished feeding the cattle, and was wheeling some turnips to fed the pigs when the bull attacked him. The attack was wholly unexpected, and its swiftness hurled Mr Fisher through a barbed wire fence. Here he was suspended with his feet up in the air. So furious was the animal that it knelt down on its fronts legs and, pushing its head through the fence, continued its assault on Mr Fisher, who by this time was incapable of saving himself. By the time help arrived Mr Fisher was in an unconscious condition. The beast, a Holstein, is usually of a very quiet nature. Perhaps the fact that it had been previously driven, rather unwillingly, from a paddock of green feed accounted for its action. Mr Fisher was reported on Monday to be making good progress.
