RIFLE SHOOTING.

TAURANGA DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. A match was fired on the local range on Saturday last over distances of 500 and 600 yards. Thirteen marksmen competed for the Floyd points trophy and the handicap shoot, which was run in conjunction with the match. Some good scores were registered over both ranges. Rifleman Kiddie made his second win for the points trophy by a handsome margin, and now equals H. Oliver, who has also two wins to his credit. The competition for Rifleman Floyd’s trophy is now becoming interesting as several members have had a win each to date.

Rifleman Ward, with 4 6 points at 600 yards, made top score for that distance, which, incidentally, is the best 600 ,yards score for the year, as he counts out another 46 points made at 600 yards by Rifleman Kiddie in a Belt competition.

Rifleman Bedggood, a young shot, shooting under service conditions, compiled 43 points at 500 yards out of a possible of 50 points. This was probably the most meritorious score of the day and but for the fact that with his third counter he dropped three points his score would have done credit to any of the club’s best shots. Rifleman Kiddie was successful in winning the handicap match. The following are the scores off the rifle for the day;
