SWIMMING.

-\E\V ( ‘El'll ESTABLISHED. A meeting of all interested in swlm-r ming was held at the Rowing Club’s;', shed last night, Mr C. Tonkin presiding over an attendance of fifty. Apologies for absence were received from Mosdames Taylor ami p. Robinson; Messrs B. P. Andrews. J. i F. Russell Wallace, J, Curtis. A. St*- - i wart, and E. A. Entwistle. Mr C. F. Stratford, representing j (•be Auckland Executive of the Royal Life Saving Society and the Auckland' Swimming Centre, was present and • advocated that swimming and h(o saving activities be incorpuraud In the one club. On the motion of Mr 11. P. Butts,’ seconded by Mr G; L. Armitage, it 1 was decided that a club, to be railed the Tauranga Amateur Swimming and. Life Saving Chib, be formed. < OHicers. Tiie following officers were elected: Patron—,Mr C. E. Macmillan, M.P. ‘ President—Mr H. P. Bulls Vice-Presidents—Messrs H. S. Riggir and J. Proctor.

Executive Committee— Miss B. Turner and Messrs M. P. Rhodes, R. -TsJ Grey. K. Taylor, U. Mirricleos, N.gl West, and F. Bates, also the captains, Miss M. Bates (ladies), and Messrs/’ W. A vote of thanks to Mr Stratford, i for attending the meeting was car- 1 ried by acclamation. ! Mr Stratford, in replying, said the new' club would receive every help, ami encouragement from the’Auck- S land Executives of the Swimming and Life Saving Centres. It w r as intended ■ to send Milford or Tukapuna teamsV; to the Mount at Easter for the purpose of giving demonstrations and instruction. ( ; Mr F. Clark reported that ihe To | Puke Club was holding a carnival on /. January 2!) and it was hoped that Tauranga would be represented by. men’s, ladies and schoolboys’ relay teams, as well as a troupe of divers. 4-1 A .vote of thanks was passed to j the Rawing Club for the use of their building for meetings.
