Mr W. E. Maguire Re-ap* pointed Baths-keeper.

SEASON OPENS ON OCTOBER 20.

Matters associated with the municipal baths were dealt with at the Borough Council meeting last night. The Baths Committee reported having met on October 8, when Mr \\\ E, Maguire was in attendance. The following recommendations were submitted by the Committee; j. Hours of attendance.—That, the hours be amended tl a.m. to 5.30 a.m, in lien of 7 to 8.30 a.m.: also, 12 noon to 1.30. and 2.30 to 8.30 p.m.--Wednesdays, G a.in. to 8.30 a.in., and 3.30 to S.Mn p.m.— Sunday. 7 to 1" a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. —That the reserve of from 2 to 3.30 p.m. on Fridays for females be deleted. 2. Charges.—Charges to be amended as follows: Adults, single season tickci Is; family season ticket. Gs (childien to be 14 years or under); adult’s monthly ticket. 2s fid : adult’s single swim, .’ld; children up to 1G year-, single swim. In reply to Cr Whiting, the Mayor said the baths-keeper stated there was very little patronage at the baths on Wednesdays.

The motion was carried. Clause two, three, four, and five were adopted. Cr Daincs moved—That clause six he adopted.—Cr Law seconded. Cr Wallace moved an amendment —That the engineer install the light under trial for a month.—-If this were done the Council would then ascertain whether the floodlight was justified as a permanency.—Lapsed, no seconder. The motion was carried. Clauses seven and eight were adopted.

The Mayor moved—That the baths be placed under the control of the Endowments Committee.— Seconded by Cr Allely and carried. Cr Whiting congratulated Cr Dailies, Chairman of the Committee, on the excellent report which he had prepared and submitted to the meeting.
