In accordance with the Government policy of economy, only 20 new probationer nurses have been appointed to the Wellington dental clinic for training in school dental work, as against 40 appointed in each of the last two years. The reduction provides for the maintenance of the service only, and not extension. A ballot was held this week to select delegates to represent the Auckland branch of the,New Zealand Education Institute at the education conference to be held at Wellington on May 11. The Tauranga Electric Power Board has decided to open an account with the Bank of New Zealand in Melbourne for the purpose of meeting interest and sinking fund payments on loan. The sum of £1984 10s 4d has been remitted, showing a saving to the Board of, approximately, £3OO. The Board yesterday congratulated the Secretary on his recommendation not to alter the domicile of the loan to New Zealand as requested by the holders of the loan. It is understood that there is a possibility of a further saving to the Board in the same direction. The Board has decided to transfer the profit to a special reserve fund, which will be invested outside the Board’s business. I
