Artificial fruit d s used by one Chinese fruiterer at Gisborne for window display purposes, and the saving effected in waste fruit in the course of a year must be considerable. Real fruit is shown in the lower portion of the window, the artificial article being displayed near the top, as the air is much warmer there and fruit is likely- to over-ripen more quickly in consequence. A product of Canton, China, the fruit is manufactured of a waxen substance to represent the most perishable varities, chief among which are mandarins, pears, persimmons, lemons and certain kinds of apples.
