AMUSEMENTS.
THE REGENT. “Women They Talk About,’’ is a modern commentary on the effect of .women in politics. If heart dominates head, the lady candidate for Mayor is all the more charming for that fact. Miss Rich plays the part of a wealthy young widow whose daughter is in love with the son of her opponent for the mayoralty. The Mayor, when younger and in poorer circumstances, has been a suitor for the hand of Miss Rich. Affairs become complicated when a confederate of the Mayor steals the daughter, in order to hurt the chances of the lady candidate. Pursuit of the pair, rescue of the girl, a fight between the thug and the young lover, in which the. Mayor is accidentally shot, though not fatally, makes "Women They Talk About” a play of breath-taking action. There is a glamorous quality, too, which puts it rightly in the category of true romance. All women they talk about, and what interesting woman in the world has not been talked about, should go to see “Women They Talk About.” “Women They Talk About” opens to-night at the Regent Theatre. The cast of this Warner Bros.’ production includes Irene Rich, Audrey Ferris, William Collier, Jr., Claude Gillingwater, Anders Randolf, Jack Santoro and John Miljan. OPERA HOUSE. A magnificent cast is assembled in the fascinating drama of modern Long Island society, “Man-Made Woman,” showing at the Opera House on Thursday and Saturday evenings next. Beatrice Joy takes the part of Nan Payson, the young and vivacious wife of John Payson, played by John Boles, a prominent figure in society. John is very straight-laced, however, and tries to stop her gay life, which makes her more wilful than ever. In the role of Jules Moret, the philanderer of whom John becomes jealous, H. B. Warner is excellent and succeeds in arousing such a lot of jealousy and anger than Nan leaves home and becomes the paid companion in New York of “Mademoiselle Georgette,” a wompi who is being maintained by Jules. Complications again start when Jules angers Georgette by making love to Nan. However, the two couples are re-united again in a most interesting and thrilling manner.
