New Plymouth, Feb. 7 Several accidents during the races at New Plymouth resulted in injuries to two riders in the Moturoa Hack Handicap. Four horses fell. K. Voitre who was riding Cyrille, had both forearms broken, and G. Sandilands riding Miss Cobham suffered a broken collarbone. J. Barry, rider of Golden Flower, and G. Goldshro I who rode Coalhag, both being implicated in a smash, escaped unhurt. WHAKATANE RACING ( LI B. The adjourned general meeting of the Whakatane Racing Club was held at Te Teko, on' Thursday last. Mr j W. H. Semmens, President of the ; Club, occupied the chair There was j a good attendance, about 25 being present The minutes of the previous meeting held on January 23rd was read Outward correspondence was read and inward correspondence was received and dealt with as follows---From the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club, Tauranga, in reply to the Whakatane Club’s letter inquiring if they would be agreeable to the Whakatane Club holding this year’s race meeting on their course, and what would’he tin; terms and conditions. "The rep?/ stated that the Tauranga Racecourse Domain Board and the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club would he pleased to grant the request and would assist the Club in every way possible free of charge. The question of holding the race meeting out of the district was very (fully discussed. j Finally Mr A. Symons proposed: That a letter of thanks be sent to the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club for their kind offer to assist the Club as expressed in their letter of January 28. —Carried. A motion of condolence was recorded as the result of the death of the late Mr G. Simpkins, who was a life member or the Club. At the close of the meeting 18 new members were enrolled.
