The Mayor said according to the books the housewiring department last year showed a deficit of £360. It was for the Council to consider the question. Afi the request of the Mayor, the engineer explained that servicing wa 3 quite different to house-wir-ing. It would be impossible to cut the servicing out, and it could be done by the inspector and an apprentice, but the inspector would not engage in any wiring of buildings. The Mayor moved—That the house-wiring department be abolished, and that the matter be referred to the engineer for action. —The Mayor also pointed out- that, the Council had to carry stocks in connection with house-wiring. # Cr Whiting seconded the motion.
