ROUTE OF EAST COAST RAILWAY
WILL BE SETTLED NEXT WEEK DECLARATION BY PRIME MINISTER. (Per Press Association) Gisborne. March 4 A clear hint that the route for the East Coast Railway will be She coast and not an inland one, was given by the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, at a complimentary gathering hereon Saturday night. He said; “After 20 years you are wondering which routo you are going to have. Let me tell you that within ten days from now, I will undertake to settle that route for all time.” Thi s announcement was greeted with deafening cheering, which lasted fullv a minute.
